1)Who are you, what do you do, where are you from and how's your life related to Subbuteo?

My name is Paul Darkes from Derbyshire, England.

I am 52 years old, Part time delivery driver.I have been collecting Subbuteo for a few years, but not played since around 1983, Just collect now. I am addicted to it, it’s on my mind all the time.

1)Chi Sei, cosa fai e perche' la tua vita e' correlata al Subbuteo ?

Mi chiamo Paul Darkes , da Derbyshire in Inghilterra. Ho 52 anni e come lavoro faccio consegne part-time. Colleziono Subbuteo da qualche anno ma non lo gioco dal 1983. Sono un Subbuteo-dipendente, penso a questo gioco tutto il tempo.

2)What's your first memory about Subbuteo ? (your first time)

I started playing around 10 years of age with some lads in my local village (Dosthill), in my mom and dads garage.

We had a league set up and all scores were recorded.

I can even remember the teams I had, Ipswich, Manchester United, Coventry, Orient, Aston Villa and Norwich...All HW ..

2)Qual e' il tuo primo ricordo del Subbuteo ? (La tua prima volta)

Iniziai a giocarlo quando avevo circa 10 anni con alcuni amici del mio paesino Dosthill, nel garage dei miei.
Avevano creato un campionato e annotavamo tutti i risultati.
Mi ricordo anche le squadre che usavo tutte HW. Avevo Ipswich, Manchester United, Coventry City, Leyton Orient, Aston Villa e Norwich City.

3)When did you start collecting Subbuteo ?

I have always had Subbuteo in my life, but no real volume, but got addicted to buying it in the last 10 years or so.

3)Quando hai iniziato a collezionare Subbuteo?

Il Subbuteo e' stato sempre parte di tutta la mia vita ma sono diventato dipendente nel collezionarlo, solo da una decina di anni.

4)What do you think about FISTF and WASPA circuits? Are you part of them ?

I have heard of them but not part of them, it’s just not me,  mainly because I  see the way the modern players set up at start of game and it makes me cringe...It’s not keeping it real with 8-1-1 formation ( Sorry)

4)Cosa pensi riguardo circuiti tipo FISTF e WASPA? Ne fai parte?

Ne ho sentito parlare ma non ne faccio parte, e' una cosa che non mi appartiene, principalmente perche' vedo il modo in cui iniziano le partite del Subbuteo Moderno (Calcio Da Tavolo)e lo trovo imbarazzante. Nulla con la realta' vedere uno schema tipo 8-1-1 , mi spiace !

5)What's the best item in your collection ?

I like so many things about the game,If pushed would say my Subbuteo Fruit machine, A real gem of a find..And not many left I would say.

5)Qual e' il pezzo piu' pregiato della tua collezione?

Mi piacciono talmente tante cose di questo gioco..... ma se proprio devo dare una risposta allora direi la mia Subbuteo Fruit Game Machine! Una vera gemma rara da trovare, probabilmente non ne saranno rimaste molto in giro!

6)What's your favourite team ?

I do like Manchester United of the 80’s because of my hero Bryan Robson, but I go to watch  Birmingham City with my mates nowadays,  as it’s a great day out when playing away.Only trouble is the actual game gets in the way of the day out🍺🍺🍺

6)Qual e' la tua squadra preferita ? 

Mi piace il Manchester United degli anni '80, quello del mio eroe Bryan Robson, ma vado a vedere le partite del Birmingham City con i miei amici, di questi tempi. Una bella occasione per andare alle trasferte e l'unico problema e' la partita stessa che si "mette nel mezzo" della trasferta !! 

7)Which one do you think it is the rarest team in the Subbuteo Universe or rarest item?

No idea of rarest team, I have around 400 of them but none super rare, my Fruit machine is pretty rare though,  find me another one!!😂😂

7)Qual e' secondo te la squadra piu' rara ?

Non ho idea di quale sia la squadra piu' rara. Ho circa 400 squadre ma probabilmente nessuna super rara, ribadisco la mia Fruit Machine Game e' rarissima, sfido a trovarne un'altra!

8)What do you think about the modern Table Soccer?

I am old school Subbuteo bloke , Subbuteo modern style of play Is not for me to be honest, formations at start of game totally disturb me 😂😂😂 but I understand why they do it👍

8)Cosa pensi del Subbuteo moderno/Calcio da Tavolo?

Sono una persona old school e lo stile del Subbuteo moderno mi disturba seriamente , per essere onesto (come dicevo prima!) Pero' capisco perche' cominciano in quel modo!
