Quinn fails to address the main problem of having single-sex schools: that our children grow up in single-sex bubbles, and the first time they meet the other gender is in third-level colleges. This is so anachronistic.

Ireland, on paper one of the most advanced countries in the world, needs to change all its secondary schools to co-educational. This will help the boys mature better and earlier and can only have a good impact on society.

This change needs to be carried out now, not in ten to 15 years’ time.
