The day started with Costa Rica Vs Serbia of Ljajic, Milinkovic-Savic and Kolarov (very well known amongst the Italian Serie A fans). Very balanced first part of the match where the South American speed faced the technique of the Serbian without producing any real dangers from both sides even if when the red had the ball looked like they could punish the opponents any moment. Serbia kept going forward minute by minute but WE feel like they need a striker because there's a bunch of very good quality players but not really any bomber or poacher in front since Mitrovic didn't seem that sharp. Few nice but useless nice play by Milinkovic Savic, a header by Gonzales but not much more in the first half. The second half Mitrovic missing a incredible chance all alone in front of Navas : he miserably failed. Luckily for Serbia at 56' a guy we know well called Kolarov fired one of his direct free kick behind the keeper for the 0-1 ! What a goal! Costa Rica tried to react and at 72' Campbell almost arrived to shot at goal but got anticipated by Stojkovic. At 75' Kostic was all alone and free to put the ball in thanks to a Tadic's cross but he was giving the back to the net and couldn't find a way to quickly turn or doing anything positive out of it. At 86' it's the shameful Mitrovic who found himself again all alone but he let a defender recovering on him while falling down miserably. Some fights in the end and a red card not shown after VAR review ended the match up. 0-1.
Germany-Mexico had the right recipe to be a rather interesting clash. In the first 3 minutes there were already couple of good chances one for each team. Lozano got stopped in the last moment by Boateng and Werner shot wide from a good right position. Mexico seemed much more dangerous. They are too fast for the very static Germany team. Kroos didn't bite from distance while Salcedo almost did an own goal over a great cross from the right. But it's Mexico that got the lead thanks to one of their super fast counter-attacks with Lozano that quickly switched the ball from left to right before beating Neuer with a nice shot. 0-1 at 35'! Great was the pass made by Hernandez to him. Only 4 minutes after the whites got close to the equalizer but the Kroos' set piece went on the woodwork. Despite the efforts and the ball possession Germany went back to the locker room down by one after 45 minutes. Incredibly this will be also the final result! Germany did try all they could but honestly we don't feel like saying Mexico just focused on defending. Actually their counter-attacks were just too much to handle for the Germans. At 55' Draxler goes close to score but it's again Salcedo to deflect the ball wide away from the goal. At 65' it's Kimmich who tried the euro-goal with no luck. The last twenty minutes were a sort of German assault but Draxler, Kroos and Werner have been rather wasteful. Some spaces for the Mexican in the last minutes but too tired to focus on the precision. Anyway an historical 0-1 victory for Osorio and his guys! Germany will have to re-organize the whole thing.
Brazil Vs Switzerland closed the day. Not a walk in the park but definitely not many dangers for Alisson. After a few sterile attacks it was Coutinho to strike a great and precise shot who beat Sommer at 20'. Very well placed by the Barcelona's player. Just a chance to Grabiel Jesus but nothing more in the first half. At 50' there was a surprise equalizer by Zuber which gave confidence and strength to the reds. We believe Zuber did push Miranda before placing is header into the net so the goal should have been disallowed but there was no VAR intervention strangely. Neymar, Firmino and even Miranda got to shoot on target but Sommer plus their lack of precision didn't allow Brazil to get a new lead. Another incredible result today. 1-1!!
