Hello! It's time for another Italian guy! Let's cut the words and go straight to know Fabio (he sent us the answers in English so we will leave them as he sent us to keep it real :) ) Italian translation can be found as well as usual !

1)Who are you, what do you do, where are you from and how's your life related to Subbuteo?

My name is Fabio Del Secco and i am a big fan of English Football from the 50's, 60's and the 70's, other than being a true Subbuteo addicted.I was born and raised in Florence downtown (Italy) and of course i support my local team (Fiorentina) but my heart actually beats for Leed United, a deep and massive passion for this glorious Club and its uncredible history !!!

1)Chi Sei, cosa fai e perche' la tua vita e' correlata al Subbuteo ?

Mi Chiamo Fabio Del Secco e sono un grande fan del Calcio Inglese degli anni '50,'60 e '70, oltre ad essere un Subbuteo-addict. Sono nato e cresciuto a Firenze e sono tifoso della Fiorentina anche se il mio cuore batte, in realta', per il Leeds United. Una profonda e immensa passione per questo storico e glorioso club.

2)What's your first memory about Subbuteo ? (your first time)

My first Subbuteo time was in 1977 as Subbuteo was my Christmas gift that year, and have kept playing since then up to 1985 when getting a teenager brought me to other targets, like girls and hanging out with mates, you know how it goes at that age.

I found Subbuteo back in January 2019 and never abandoned it again since then, so currently i've been playing for more than year now, re-bought almost 80 Teams (all HW), 6 cloth pitches, 6 Stands for my Stadium (called the Diary Park, and i'll tell you why later) and a huge bunch of ground figures for the entire enviroment (Policemen, photographers, ballboys, managers, trainers, etc etc etc...)

2)Qual e' il tuo primo ricordo del Subbuteo ? (La tua prima volta)

La mia prima volta Subbuteo fu nel 1977 quando ricevetti il Gioco come regalo di natale. Continuai a giocare fino al 1985 ma crescendo ho iniziato a dedicare le mie attenzioni ad altri interessi come le ragazze e gli amici, sapete come vanno certe cose a quell'eta'.

Ho ritrovato il Subbuteo nel gennaio 2019 e da allora non l'ho piu' lasciato. Lo rigioco da un anno and ho ri-comprato quasi 80 squadre (tutte HW), 6 panni/campi da gioco, 6 tribune per il mio stadio (Chiamato il Diary Park,vi spieghero' perche' dopo) e tantissime figure da atmosfera per il bordo campo tipo polizia,fotografi,raccattapalle,allenatori,trainers,etc.

3)Can you make a personal comparison between the Old Subbuteo and the modern Table Soccer? What pushed you to be a Solo-Player?

I like to define myself as an Old Subbuteo Extremist hence i do love the Old type of the game only,don't get along with the new Teams, the new Balls, the new Pitches and mostly with the habit of polishing the figures, all stuff which refers to an exasperated agonism and competition attitude (that don'y belong to me). One of the things of Subbuteo that immediately hit me, back in that 1977 Christmas, was the enormous potential of being realist that i felt the game had, and this belief still resides in me: my Subbuteo has to be as much realistic as possible, has it can actually be (that's why i like better the FF Balls which are more to the measure of the figures, other than reminding me of the old balls from the English Football in the 50's, 60's and the 70's, rolling on those muddy pitches like the one from them years).

I started to play solo many years ago when i realized that it was the only way to let my games be realistic as much as i wanted,and that's where i started back from in January 2019: i put together a bunch of rules based on making a realistic development of the game and started my personal Solo Playing Competitions, which are obviously marked by my never ending love for the English Football:i regularly play my League with 32 English Teams picked from the ones that mostly contributed to the History of Football in the UK, my Promotionship with the other English Teams non included in the main League, and certainly my FA Cup.

3)Ci puoi fare una distinzione personale tra l Old Subbuteo ed il Subbuteo moderno o Calcio da tavolo? Cosa ti ha spinto  inoltre ad essere un Solo Player?

Mi piace definirmi un estremista dell'Old Subbuteo perche' ne sono innamorato. Non ho un grande feeling con le nuove squadre,le nuove palline, i nuovi campi di gioco e tutto il nuovo che e' piu' incline ad un esasperato agonismo e competizione, che non mi appartiene. Una della caratteristiche del Subbuteo che mi colpi' particolarmente , sin dal 1977, fu l'enorme potenziale realistico del gioco e credo, ancora oggi in cio'. Il Mio Subbuteo deve sembrare il piu' realistico possibile, come puo' essere infatti (anche per questo mi piacciono piu' le palline FF che sono piu' adatte alla misura degli omini, oltre a ricordarmi i vecchi palloni del calcio inglese degli anni 50,60 e 70, che rotolavano sui campi infangati di quei tempi).

Ho iniziato a giocare in modalita' SOLO tanti anni fa, quando realizzai che quello sarebbe stato l'unico modo di rendere le mie partite veramente realistiche. Dunque ricomincia, nel 2019, da quel punto. Creai delle regole ad hoc ed iniziai le mie personali Solo Leghe, segnate da un amore infinito per il calcio inglese. Gioco regolarmente le mie leghe con 32 squadre inglesi, scelte tra quelle che hanno contribuito alla storia del Calcio in Inghilterra.

4)Did you ever take part in Subbuteo Events? If YES which ones? Did you ever win any prize? If YES which ones?

Currently i don't attend any Subbuteo Association or Club, neither take part in any Official Subbuteo Event, i just play my personal competitions and run my Facebook page called "Diario di una vecchia passione" (that's why my stadium is called Diary Park) with more than 200 Followers.

4)Hai mai partecipato ad eventi Subbuteo ? Se si quali ? oppure fai parte di qualche associazione di Solo Players?o altro?

Al momento non partecipo ad alcuna Associazione Subbuteo o Club e nemmeno ad eventi ufficiali Subbuteo. Gioco solo le mie competizioni personali ed ho una pagina facebook "Diario di una vecchia passione" (Ecco perche' il mio stadio e'chiamato DIARY PARK) con piu' di 200 fans.

5)Are you strictly a Subbuteo Player or Table Soccer? Are you also a collector? or anything else in the Subbuteo world?

With regard to my collection, i just have English Teams from the current Premier League and the current Championship (no interest in any other country team !!!), and decided to set up all my competitions in order to have the chance of playing with every single team i own each week (ain't it nice ?). 

5)Sei prettamente un giocatore di Subbuteo o CDT? Sei anche un collezionista? o altro nel mondo Subbuteo?

Riguardo la mia collezione, ho solo squadre Inglesi dell'attuale Premier League e Championship (Non mi interessano squadre di altre nazioni!) and ho deciso di organizzare tutte le mie competizioni in modo di poter giocarle tutte! Bello no?

6)What's your favourite team ?

Of course when Leeds United win are more than happy but i prefer to stay impartial and unbiased as it's more fun, agree ?

6)Qual e' la tua squadra preferita ? e quella che usi di piu ?

Certo quando il LEEDS UNITED vince sono piu' che felice ma preferisco restare il piu' imparziale possibile, ed inoltre e' piu' divertente cosi, non credete?

7)Which one is the rarest team from your point of view?

In my collection the rarest team i have is a Cape Town which i often use as an Away Kit for the teams playing away and wearing the same shirt of the home teams (how about that ?). But to be honest i've put kinda like a roof to my Subbuteo spending activities,as i am more of a player than a collector (even though right now i don't need any more team to run my competions, i got almost all the English Club possible, not counting the minor leagues or division ones).

7)Qual e' secondo te la squadra piu' rara ? (se Collezioni)

La squadra piu' rara della mia collezione e' CAPE TOWN che uso spesso come Kit della squadra che gioca fuori casa ed ha colori simili. Ma sinceramente ho messo un limite nell'acquisto di materiale Subbuteo. Sono piu' un giocatore che un collezionista. (Anche se adesso ho praticamente tutte le squadre inglesi che mi servono per le mie competizioni, escluse ovviamente le leghe minori)

8) What are the positive and negative aspects of the SOLO-PLAYER mode?

Positive sides of Solo Playing ? being able to set up and manage my competions the way i like better which is realism without being caught by exaperated agonism or exagerated competitiveness.

Negative sides of Solo Playing ? .....well, i don't see any

8)Lati positivi e negativi della modalita' SOLO ?

Di positivo c'e' certamente la possibilita' di creare ed organizzare le mie competizioni a mio piacimento senza doversi preoccupare dell'esasperato agonismo o esagerata competitivita'. Non riesco a trovare lati negativi.

Why Subbuteo is so important for you ?

Because coming back to it is like having retrieved a part of myself from many years ago, right when the 50th birthday reminds me of life passing by and the weight of the age make itself felt. So nowadays when i play it's like having myself child playing with me, i'm never alone, that child with those seventies bellbottom trousers is always with me all the time, he holds my hand and whispers that he'll never leave me again.

It probably is some sort of fondness for life and youth i believe....

10)Fatti una domanda e dacci una risposta !

Perche' il Subbuteo e' cosi' importante per te ?

Perche' tornare a giocarlo e'stato come recuperare una parte di me di quegli anni passati, proprio quando il mio 50esimo compleanno mi ha ricordato di come passa il tempo nella vita, iniziando inoltre e sentire il peso della vita. Dunque giocando il Subbuteo oggi e' come se tornassi bambino giocando con me stesso, non sono mai da solo. Quel bambino con i pantaloni a zampa di elefante e' sempre con me, mi tiene la mano e mi sussurra che non non mi lascera' mai piu'. Penso di essere molto affezionato alla vita ed alla gioventu'.
